The Unsung: Johnny Cab in Total Recall

Total Recall is an 80’s Action movie that is probably one of Arnold’s best acting efforts. The movie actually got decent reviews from some of the critics. There are several candidates in this fine film that could qualify for The Unsung. Unforgettable were the midget and the three-titted hooker. How about the snaggle-toothed, mutant black gangster cab driver Benny?

Benny was barely human, but there was another Cabbie that was not even remotely human that had some of the most glorious and violent 2 minutes of showtime ever for someone who was just a mundane civil servant.

Yes, our hero of the moment is Johnny Cab. Johnny was just politely trying to do his job when his existence changed forever when Quaid (Arnold) hopped into his cab. While merely, and perfunctorily, trying to elicit a destination from Quaid, he was unceremoniously ripped in half and thrown in the back of the cab.

Still dutifully chirping his lines, he was taken on a harrowing wild car chase, only to have his robotic existence ended in a flaming fireball after a crash into a concrete buttress A brief movie cameo that ended suddenly and quickly forgotten, on the planet of Mars.

Good-bye, sweet Johnny. We appreciate your service.
