Movie: A Few Good Men
Courtroom drama has been harvested since the very existence of motion pictures. From masterpiece classics like 12 Angry Men and To Kill A Mockingbird to hilarious comedies like My Cousin Vinny, movie viewers have been mesmerized by the drama and histrionics in the courtroom. One of the most unforgettable is the duel between the acting superstars of Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.
Tom Cruise is brilliant as a Navy defense lawyer for two marines who are accused of the hazing of a fellow soldier that resulted in his death. He successfully exploits the arrogance of Colonel Nathan R. Jessup (Jack Nicholson), who in a fit of anger and hubris, manages to incriminate himself after belting out one of the great soliloquies in movie history.
This is one of the greatest courtroom dramas ever, and adequate testimony to the concept of NOT volunteering information over and beyond what is asked of you by an attorney.
